Between 1999 and 2002 Beatnik Filmstars were having time off, and three of them (John, Tom &
Andrew) formed KYOKO
A Slo-Fi / Lo-Fi band. They released three albums all of which sold poorly, many CD's were destroyed.
But with the magic of downloads, we offer you the chance to hear these lost gems...
The first two albums 'One : Mini' & 'Co-Incidental Music' (Woof 15) have been joined together as one long full length
The band's third & final album 'Unpure Disco' (Woof 13) is presented just as it was.
And various tracks from compilations and singles, as well as live recordings and unreleased tracks have
been collected together to create a new album called 'Play Quiet' (Woof 12)
"If you give these songs the attention they rightly deserve, lay back and listen, you'll be
hopefully surprised. Sadly in a world that has no attention span longer than a few seconds, and with
everyone rushing around needing to listen to music on the go, Kyoko honestly didn't stand a chance.
But for me personally, I feel some of the best songs I have ever been involved with making are to be

SOME INFORMATION:
Formed in Bristol UK in 1986, The Groove Farm were a noise pop, indiepop, garage band.
Involved with the C86 indie scene that was at the time sweeping the nation.
Their first record was a very Lo-Fi affair, but it was well received and found a regular spot
on night time Radio One, thanks to both Janice Long & John Peel. Many singles followed
as well as a truely disappointing first LP. Money was tight, times were hard. the music was
recorded cheaply. The band played shows with many C86 favourites such as The Sea Urchins,
Talulah Gosh, The Flatmates, Rosehips, Fizzbombs, The Wedding Present, Brilliant Corners
and many, many more. They recorded 'Baby Blue Marine' for a shared Flexi disc with the Sea Urchins
which was sold with Kvatch Fanzine, made and sold by Clare Wadd who later co formed the wonderful
Sarah Records. The band released records on Raving Pop Blast! and also the Subway Organisation.
Many of the bands records climbed the UK's Indie charts, and songs like 'It Always Rains On Sunday',
'Surfin' Into Your Heart', 'Baby Blue Marine', 'Stop!', 'Heaven Is Blue' and the 'Plug' LP were taken to
the hearts of Indie Kids all over the world.
The band lasted through until 1990, and with the changes taking place in the music world, and
a desire to try experimenting with various musical sounds that the limitations of being The
Groove Farm caused, the band ended and out of the ashes like a rising phoenix (or slightly
charred sparrow) came Beatnik Filmstars.
Now 25 years on, we are happy to offer you this fantastic collection of all the very best songs
including some lesser known versions, and some subtle remixes, and many demos previously unheard!
All remastered by Rocker (The Flatmates / Rosehips/ Dandelion Radio) and sounding great.
